The video of the school board hearing and decision that terminated JROTC weapons training in San Diego schools is now available for online viewing. It's part two of the televised board meeting (it was a looonnnnnggg board meeting). Below is the link to that part. The shooting range resolution comes up near the beginning, after the first few minutes.
If you have never had the experience of going to a school board for policy changes, this is a good tutorial on at least the public meeting part of the process. The camera doesn't point back at the 250 people in the audience, most of whom were waiving bright orange "NO WEAPONS TRAINING" signs; some also held up signs with the names of their schools.
By the way, the news was taken badly by the NRA and similar groups. For example: http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=4422. Their web sites have been generating negative mail and some nasty messages to us.
We've also had word that some JROTC people have met with one school board member (Shelia Jackson) to strategize on getting the decision reversed. The struggle is ongoing, but we also have reason to celebrate.
