Students, teachers and parents need you to come to the San Diego School Board meeting on Tues., Feb. 10, when the board will take up a proposal to eliminate high-powered pellet gun training from 11 schools with military science classes (JROTC).
Chicago Public Schools, which has the nation's largest JROTC program, ended rifle training in 1999 in response to the Columbine High School massacre. Here, after over a year of protests by students and parents, and recent news that gun violence in the community has taken the lives of three high school students, the San Diego school board will finally confront the issue on Feb. 10. You can help convince them to stop sending mixed messages to students and get out of the business of teaching young people to shoot guns!
Busloads of students from different schools will be rallying outside at 4 pm and addressing the board inside around 5 pm. They need you to help fill the auditorium!
Location: 4100 Normal St., San Diego. Arrive early to find parking.
