The San Diego City Council recently passed the ordinance to prevent Superstores, like Wal-Mart, from coming into communities where they would have a negative impact.
The Ordinance to Protect Small and Neighborhood Businesses is now in the Mayor's hands!
PLEASE CALL MAYOR JERRY SANDERS TODAY at 619-236-6330 and URGE HIM TO SIGN IT!
- Call the Mayor's office at (619) 236-6330
- Tell the person who answers the phone that you are calling to urge the Mayor to sign the Ordinance to Protect Small and Neighborhood Businesses.
- Tell them that you want to know the impacts a Supercenter would have on small and neighborhood stores, business districts, and local wages and that the only way for the public to get that information is if he signs the ordinance. The ordinance is not a ban, it just tells big corporations like Wal-Mart that they need to prove they are good for our city's economy before they come in to town and put all of our neighborhood businesses at risk.
- Ask Mayor Sanders to do the right thing and sign this ordinance into law.
It is important that the Mayor acts quickly on this ordinance, so please call today. If he vetoes it, there will be a veto override vote on Thursday, December 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at City Hall, 12th floor.
Thank you for your support.
In solidarity,
Elizabeth Newman
