This is to let you know that NEW articles and updated content have recently been posted at http://www.comdsd.org/, the Web site of the San Diego-based Committee Opposed to Militarism and the Draft (COMD).
The current update Includes three articles from the latest issue of COMD's printed newsletter, Draft NOtices:
- "Almost Half of All New War Vets Are Filing Injury Claims," summarizes recent statistics from the government indicating that the rate of injury in current U.S. wars is much greater than in past conflicts, a fact that should be considered by everyone considering military enlistment.
- "Postscript to 'The Deception of Kony 2012'," notes that a campaign launched by the San Diego-based nonprofit Invisible Children is having some success in pushing for expanded U.S. militarism in Africa.
- "Draft Resistance Grows in Syria," describes the growing role of draft refusal in the movement to overthrow the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
In addition to the above three articles, the current printed version of Draft NOtices includes articles on: why people seem to ignore obvious lessons from the past when they join the military; how students can keep schools from releasing their contact information to the military; and the historical pattern of false pretexts used by the U.S. to wage war.
