Mochizuki, a resident of Yokohama (~165 miles from Fukushima), writes the Fukushima Diary blog to share on-the-ground information of what's happening to the people of Japan since Fukushima. After March 11, 2011, he became frustrated with the lack of reliable information from official Japanese channels and began posting stories he discovered on Facebook sites. Harassed and threatened by Japanese officials, facing repeated online DDOS attacks and sickened by radiation (diarrhea, headache, coughing, nasal congestion, fatigue, pain behind his eyes), Mochizuki left Japan in December, 2011. Since then, he has traveled extensively and been hosted by his blog's followers in France, Spain, Netherlands, Romania, Austria and Tunisia. He currently lives in US. Fukushima Diary continues to be read by approximately 10,000 people a day.
