Date: Wed, 11 Sep 2013 09:36:45 -0700
NEWS ADVISORY
For Immediate Release
The San Diego Veterans For Peace, along with friends and supporters of peace, will again be demonstrating and "bannering" on the 6th Avenue overpass of I-5 downtown against US involvement in the Syrian civil war. This is our fourth "No War On Syria" demonstration on the 6th Avenue overpass and each one grows in numbers of participants and press interest.
When: Thursday, September 12th, 2013, from 4-6 PM
Where: 6th Avenue overpass of I-5, near the corner of Elm Street and 6th Avenue
Who: Veteran and associate members of the San Diego Veterans For Peace, friends, and supporters of peace. The general public is encouraged to join us and bring SIGNS WITH LARGE LETTERS visible by commuters along the I-5.
What: Veterans, associates and supporters will again be demonstrating and "bannering" against unwise and unjustified US involvement in the current Syrian civil war.
Why: President Obama's plan to obtain Congressional approval of his military activities against Syria call us out to the streets to object. While we are heartened by the recent proposals by France and Russia to dismantle Syria's chemical weaponry, we remain very concerned about Obama's plans to strike with cruise missiles (now said to be "on hold") because our post 9-11 history shows that we usually strike first and think later.
