The Obama administration is pulling out all propaganda stops to wrest a congressional vote of approval to bomb Syria. THE HUGE MAJORITY OF CITIZENS ARE OPPOSED TO THIS ACTION, and it is POSSIBLE to derail the mad rush to another war.
A last huge push must be done, to FLOOD Congress and Washington with the message: NO WAR/NO MILITARY ACTION on Syria! Make sure your whole network, everyone in your address book, all your relatives north, south, east and west, get YOUR message to TAKE THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS – this weekend is crucial!
CALL IN TO CONGRESS -
Until the vote in Washington, the immediate focus needs to be on Congress. We've all been involved in protest actions and we need to continue the pressure and intensify the mobilizations. Our unified demand should be: Hands Off Syria – No War!
UNAC calls for putting pressure on Congress from now until the vote. This includes organizing meetings with members of Congress, call-ins, sit-ins, letters, media outreach, petitions, etc. Call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard: 1-202-224-3121. Ask for your representative. Leave a message: VOTE NO TO WAR ON SYRIA!

E-MAIL IN TO CONGRESS –
Share this action on Facebook Your actions thus far have helped compel President Obama to seek Congressional authorization before attacking Syria. Together, we've delayed any possible attack, giving us an opening to prevent it.
We have the majority of the people with us. We can compel Congress to block this war.
What you can do to help right now is to forward this email to at least four people and suggest that they, too, click here to urge their members of Congress to oppose any attack on Syria. The terrible and widespread killing in Syria will become even more terrible and more widespread if the U.S. military (or a coalition of allies) launches an attack.[1]
Under the Constitution, Congress is responsible for declaring war -- yet routinely it leaves the decision to the President.
In less than a minute, you can send an urgent email to your senators and representative (with a "cc" to President Obama) urging them to oppose a U.S. military attack on Syria. Click here.
The choice is not between doing nothing and bombing the Syrian people. Bob Dreyfuss, contributing editor at The Nation, urges "an all-out effort to achieve a ceasefire in the Syrian civil war. It's late in the game but it can be done. The first step would be for Washington to put intense pressure on Saudi Arabia, the Arab states of the Persian Gulf, and Turkey, to halt the flow of weapons to the Syrian rebels, while simultaneously getting Russia and Iran to do the same. A concerted, worldwide diplomatic effort along those lines could work, but there's zero evidence that President Obama has even thought of that."[2]
Click here to give the idea to the President and to Congress.
Nobel Peace Prize winner Mairead Maguire said this week: "Contrary to some foreign governments' current policies of arming the rebels and pushing for military intervention, the people of Syria are calling out for peace and reconciliation and a political solution to the crisis, which continues to be inflamed by outside forces with thousands of foreign fighters funded and supported by outside countries for their own political ends."[3]
Click here to tell those who would bomb people in our names that we strongly oppose such actions.
Very important: To help amplify voices for peace at this crucial time, please forward this message to like-minded friends.
