Oooh, how's that for stirring up a debate?!
But seriously, now that Tax Day is done and gone (phew!), let's get together and commiserate about Taxes, Income, and, yes, their relationship to War.
In the next TWO WEEKS, we have awesome events that will shake things up and make you question... the who, what, when, and where of MONEY!
You won't want to miss out!!
First, ONE week from now...
Wed. April 23rd from 6:30-9pm
~ Film Showing "Inequality for All" ~
FREE and Open to the Public!
@ Peace Resource Center
Watch this award winning and energizing documentary about the widening income gap and how it threatens the foundation of democracy. And AFTER the film, join the discussion with guests from CPI (Center on Policy Initiatives) about the efforts around earned sick days and raising the minimum wage to a livable one this year!
BUT that morning and later in the week...
Volunteer for the PRC (which saves us money!)
Wed 4/23 & Thurs 4/24
from 9:30am-2pm, both days
Volunteer at the PRC by helping label/prepare our mailer for the Annual Work-a-thon.
And Sunday 4/27, help table at EarthFair
throughout the day, 90 min. volunteer shifts for the PRC tabling at the annual Earth Fair day in Balboa Park
THEN a week later...
Fri & Sat, May 2-4, 2014
~ National War Tax Resistance Gathering ~
Come for a session or the whole weekend!
We especially encourage you to join us for...
Friday 6:30pm ~ Potluck Social.
Sat 9:30-10:30am ~ Workshop: Economic Justice & "NAFTA on Steroids"
Sat 11am-12pm ~ Workshop: War Tax Resistance 101
PLUS... we actually need assistance with sleeping gear and housing.
If you're interested and able, we'd greatly appreciate borrowing numerous sleeping pads, air mattresses, blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, etc so that the visiting War Tax Resisters can sleepover at our Center. We also need housing hosts for 3 individuals that need a standard bed. Please contact us if you are able to help with any of these... call 619-263-9301, reply to this email or to volunteer@prcsd.org
AND Don't Forget...
Annual Work-a-thon for Peace & Justice
Join us in saving money for the Centro Cultural de la Raza by volunteering your labor to help clean, organize, and paint the Centro. Also, your involvement helps in raising money for the PRC and Project YANO to continue our work toward a just and peaceful world!
Thank you!! Contact us with any questions.
