NEWS ADVISORY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
San Diego Veterans For Peace, supporters and friends, to rally on the 6th Avenue overpass on Thursday, July 10th from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM against US re-involvement in Iraq
Who: Veteran and associate members of the San Diego chapter of Veterans For Peace, supporters and friends
When: Thursday, July 10th, from 3:30 PM until 5:30 PM
Where: 6th Avenue overpass of I-5, near the southwest corner of Balboa Park
What: Rally and bannering for passing motorists against the re-involvement of the US military into the current internal Iraq hostilities
Why: Many current government officials seem to believe that the US needs to return to Iraq to stabilize the ongoing situation there. As veterans of all five military services, we have seen the horrific impact of war in general, and the unjustified horror and destruction in the war in Iraq between 2003-2011. Given that the ongoing hostilities are between several internal Iraqi factions dating back 1400 years, we believe that it is not a reasonable or appropriate role for the United States military to become involved again. Have we learned nothing ?
If you too believe that the United States military has no business in the current Iraq hostilities, come stand with us on the 6th Avenue overpass and let the thousands of drivers who see us know where you stand.
