Paid petitioners are trying to repeal San Diego's new earned sick leave and minimum wage law. Do not sign!
Our City Council just passed an ordinance making San Diego the largest city in the country to give its workers a boost and require employers to allow workers to earn up to five sick days a year.
Now some out-of-town and local business interests are trying to overturn this widely supported advancement by sending OUT OF TOWN paid signature-gathers into the streets with a petition to overturn it.
Don't let them get away with this. More than 200,000 hard-working San Diegans are counting on us. Don't sign it!
Don't take away the ability of workers to put food on their table and keep a roof over their heads. No hard-working full-time employee should live in poverty or have to choose between being a good employee or good family member. Providing earned sick leave and a gradual increase in the minimum wage from $9 an hour to $11.50 by the year 2017 is a sensible and modest step in that direction.
We can make the lives of everyday San Diegans better. When you see the paid signature gatherers and their misleading petition, Don't Sign It! Instead, call or text 619-930-3300 and give us the time and locations!
