RegisterJoin Kroc School faculty and Institute for Peace and Justice staff for a discussion on their ongoing research and fieldwork on the rise of violent religious extremism and its impact on women and communities worldwide – an urgent and deepening crisis.
Panelists: Ami Carpenter, associate professor, will discuss her research on community resilience to sectarian violence during Iraq's civil war, and recent participation in the White House Summit on Countering Violent Extremism.
Jennifer Freeman, senior program officer for Women, Peace and Security, will discuss the ongoing dialogues organized by the Institute for Peace and Justice on "Defying Extremism: Gendered Responses to Religious Violence".
Moderated by Avi Spiegel, assistant professor, Department of Political Science and International Relations.Co-sponsored by the departments of Political Science and International Relations and Theology and Religious Studies.
