From November 29 to December 12, world leaders will meet in Paris to negotiate a new global climate treaty. While progress is expected, we already know that any agreement reached will not be nearly as strong as we need it to be. 2015 is on track to be the hottest year on record, and unprecedented storms, floods and droughts are happening around the world. The tragedy in Paris has only strengthened our resolve to stand together for a peaceful and livable planet. This movement for climate justice has always also been a movement for peace– no matter what background or religion, a way for us to protect our common home. So as world leaders gather in Paris at the end of November for the COP global climate summit, folks around the world will be marching in their communities.
On December 12, people will come together from all over San Diego County to call for bold climate solutions that create local jobs, strengthen community power and transition us to 100% clean energy by 2035. And we'll call on world leaders to not cross climate red lines – including keeping 80% of fossil fuels in the ground. Huge demonstrations will take place in Paris and around the world. If we are successful, these mobilizations could be a real turning point for the movement.
It's time to show the world that true climate leadership means a brighter future for all. December 12 will be one of San Diego's biggest climate actions ever — can you join us? RSVP NOW and contact us to volunteer!
