Are you happy with a huge chunk of your federal taxes going to sustain what Eisenhower warned us against - the military industrial complex? Some citizens go so far as to withhold that portion of their taxes, and the below tells you how to do that. As an alternative, you can message the IRS and government while paying your taxes, or even separate from your tax filing, and the below tells you how to do that also.
We will never be the society we aspire to be, as long as the US continues its world-wide military empire for the profit of the very few. Here's something you can do.
****************
It is tax season again…do you know where are your taxes being spent?
Consider filing your peace tax return with your federal taxes this year.
FACT: Almost 50% of our federal budget is dedicated to war.
Dear Friends,
many of you know I am also a member of War Resisters & the National War Tax Resistance Coordinating Committee.
As part of our 2016 Days of War Tax Action, we are urging peace-minded tax payers to include the Peace Tax Return with their tax return this year to oppose the war budget.
I've attached the Return (you can also visit it online), and some information around why and how to "file" a peace tax return.
It is legal way of registering your opposition to endless war.
In peace,
Anne
Do our national priorities need to emphasize military investment over human needs?
US military spending dwarfs the combined spending of other countries. And that war has come home in so many ways...
Where is our peace investment?
Support the movement to turn war taxes into peace dollars!*
1. Print out the Peace Tax Return,
2. follow the instructions, and
3. either include it with your federal tax return this year or send it separately to your elected representatives.
NOTE: Tax Day 2016 is April 18. You must return your tax forms by this date.
How will you invest in peace?
.
*The Peace Tax Return is part of Days of War Tax Action 2016: Invest in People; Divest From the Pentagon.
