Why do Palestinians call Israel's Independence Day "Al Nakba" (the Catastrophe)? Learn from eye witnesses what really happened to Palestinians during the founding of Israel.
On May 14, BDS San Diego, together with Karama, Jewish Voice for Peace and Palestinian American Women's Association-San Diego will commemorate the 68th anniversary of Al Nakba by presenting a program titled "A Story of Ethnic Cleansing, Resilience and Resurgence."
The commemoration will feature eyewitness testimony of survivors, screening of the short film "Ismail," inspired by the Palestinian painter Ismail Shammout, music by Naima Shalhoub and keynote address by Dr. Jamal Nassar.
The evening will include Palestinian dinner and desserts.
