The Women's Rights Committee of Women Occupy San Diego decided it's time for some positive stories. Stories about women who have made a difference! Stories like how the women of Liberia stopped the senseless war in their country, the day the women of Iceland took the day off and brought the country to a standstill, the story of how the indigenous women of Chiapas, Mexico held back the army from their village with sticks and stones, and how women are spearheading the Black Lives Matter movement here in the USA.
The
more I learn about the women we will be talking about at The Women's Museum on Monday evening , the more I am in awe of what they have achieved - against all odds. And seeing this, it's easy to understand why men have tried to keep us suppressed for so long - because they fear the strength, intelligence, ingenuity and endurance we possess. As the women of Women Occupy San Diego have demonstrated in the past five years, working together, we women are an unstoppable force of nature!
Please join us at 7PM (note that the time has changed) this Monday for what I promise will be a lively and inspirational event.
We will also have a table of gorgeous weavings and other items created by women's cooperatives in Chiapas, so bring cash or checkbook to treat yourself to something lovely. And there will be some of surprises to give away too!
