As fires burn throughout the region, the ACLU of San Diego and Imperial Counties is on alert to ensure that no person in need of disaster-related assistance faces discrimination because of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, immigration status, or English proficiency. 

We provide important Know Your Rights information for anyone seeking assistance or services during the current fire emergency. This information is available in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Vietnamese.  Please share widely.

During and after times of disaster, please keep in mind:

• You cannot be discriminated against.
• You are free from unreasonable searches.
• Your personal information must be protected.
• You have the right to medical care, food, shelter & financial aid.
• You do not have to show identification.
• Be calm and stand up for your rights.

If you hear of or witness anyone being denied assistance or services during this fire emergency, or are yourself denied disaster-related assistance, please contact the San Diego ACLU at 619-232-2121.

En lo que arden los incendios por toda la región, la ACLU de los Condados de San Diego e Imperial está en alerta para asegurar que nadie que necesita ayuda relacionada con los incendios tenga que enfrentar discriminación por motivo de raza, color, etnia, nacionalidad, género, orientación sexual, edad, discapacidad, estatus migratorio o fluidez con el inglés.

Tenemos información importante Know Your Rights [Conozca sus derechos] para toda persona en busca de ayuda o servicios durante la actual emergencia de incendios. Esta información se ofrece en inglés, español, árabe y vietnamita. Favor de difundir  y compartir lo más posible.

• No tiene que mostrar identificación para recibir ayuda.
• Manténgase calmado y defienda sus derechos.
