The National Priorities Project analyzes the US Budget, the impact of the Trump Tax Deal on the rich and the poor and the in-between, and the drain of an excessive military budget on our communities. The pie chart above only includes military allocations as outlined in the budget. It doesn't show actual expenditures, hidden allocations, and budget items for other federal programs that are also spent on war and destabilization of other countries. You can find out how the US government spent your taxes here.
April is tax time. Have you filed your peace tax return?

PRC endorses Women Occupy San Diego's call for a strong, independent, community
Commission on Police PracticesWomen Occupy San Diego (WOSD) has submitted a strong charter amendment to the city clerk that will replace the ineffective Community Review Board on Police Practices with a strong Commission on Police Practices. Based on the Ethics Commission model, this amendment would if approved by voters allow for independent counsel, independent investigators to handle investigations of complaints, the power to subpoena, and a requirement to enact the people's will within 90 days.
The City Council's Rules Committee is considering the draft amendment at its next meeting. We need a strong Charter Amendment. Your support is urgently needed! Please consider attending this meeting or contacting your elected council person to state your support for a Commission on Police Practices.City Council Rules Committee

The Poor People's Campaign kicks off in San Diego!!
The San Diego Poor People's Campaign had its debut at the Peace Campus on the anniversary of the assasination of Dr. King, April 4. The PRC has joined this movement to transform the economic, political and moral structures of our country. The revival of the civil rights PPC had its start in the Moral Mondays led by Reverend Barber in North Carolina. The Campaign has 12 Fundamental Principles and is now established in 42 states.
Over fifty community activists and organizational representatives gathered at the Friends Center to learn about the Campaign in California and the upcoming 40 Days of Action at the state capitol.
Everyone joining the Campaign must register online here.
And anyone who will be participating in actions must attend a training in Nonviolent Moral Fusion Direct Action.
You can follow San Diego Poor People's Campaign here.
