Subject: We NEED you to Show Solidarity with Asylum Seekers in San Diego County! Join us on Tuesday
Reply-To: "Gaia Croston, ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties" <gcroston@aclusandiego.org>
We need your help to defend our values and protect the lives of many vulnerable families.
For more than eight weeks, the ACLU Foundation of San Diego & Imperial Counties and other members of the San Diego Rapid Response Network (SDRRN) have coordinated shelter and care for 4,000+ asylum-seeking families abandoned by federal authorities on San Diego streets without warning, food or shelter. We do this because we know asylum seekers have a right to safety, health and just treatment. But we cannot continue to do this work alone.
Thanks to County Supervisor Greg Cox and Supervisor-Elect Nathan Fletcher who recognize the urgency of this issue, we have an opportunity to make our voices heard.
Will you join us on Tuesday, January 8 to urge the San Diego County Board of Supervisors to fulfill their duty to asylum-seeking families and provide the humanitarian assistance that non-profit organizations have been providing thus far?
When: Tuesday, January 8th at 10:00am
Where: San Diego County Administration Center, Board of Supervisors North Chamber Room 310 at 1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92101Please register here so we know how many people to expect.
Our hope is that the supervisors will develop long-term solutions to this very serious humanitarian concern.
If you are unable to make it on Tuesday but would still like to contribute, please consider donating to the San Diego Rapid Response Network and its efforts to respond to anti-immigrant activities occurring across the county.
We hope to see you this Tuesday. If you have any questions, please contact us at organizing@aclusandiego.org.
Best,
